We do not plan to have any litters in 2025.
We may be able to connect you with a puppy when Sage sires litters in the coming year.
We did a repeat breeding between Sage and Willow for Spring 2024. See their pages under Our Griffs for pictures of their previous pups.
The spring 2024 litter have all gone to their new homes.
Sage and Willow have produced 3 prior litters. Some of these pups are featured on the Progeny Page. We have been getting great feedback on these pups from their owners. They hunt!
We anticipate Sage will have some dates with some nice girls in 2025 and we can probably find you a pup from those breedings.
We have had some nice females lined up to breed with our stud, Sage. If you want our bloodlines, we will be happy to connect you with the owners of those females.
If you have a nice hunting female you are interested in breeding to Sage, we can help you find placements for your puppies. We have more inquiries each year than we have puppies, and are getting increasing numbers of inquiries about Sage's puppies.
Check out the Progeny Page for pictures and owner's comments on our past litters.

We bred Willow and Sage for a spring 2022 litter and they produced 10 beautiful puppies. The pups were chasing wing clipped pigeons and loving the wading pool before they went to their new homes. We are getting great reports on them so far and did a repeat breeding in spring of 2023.
We bred Rainy to Valley of the Warm Winds Riser for a Spring 2018 litter. Riser is a compact male griff that I knew was special the first time I hunted over him. He is a serious hunting machine in the field, and a gentle buddy for his young family with preschool age kids. I boarded him for several weeks during hunting season in 2017 and of course, hunted him. I found him to be very connected and biddable with a great search and great nose. He retrieved in the water with enthusiasm. Riser's owner is a hardcore hunter and Riser has hunted WY, MT, SD and KS. His pedigree includes lots of bloodlines not commonly found in MT. More importantly, his ancestors who have been NAVHDA tested and hip evaluated have all had very positive results. Riser's hips are OFA Good. He and Rainy produced 8 beautiful pups for our Spring 2018 litter. Early reports are that the pups love water, are pointing birds and are biddable. Pictures of Riser are on the Photos Page. Pups from that litter are on the Progeny Page. The 2018 litter has qualified for a 2019 NAVHDA NA Breeders Award. Naturally, we repeated that breeding in 2019.
We bred Stormy and Rainy to Zeb (Dawg Onalog's Definitely Dickens) for Spring 2017 litters. I had been watching Zeb since his owner brought him to a NAVHDA training day at 3 months old and I could see he was going to be a very special dog. He has indeed become a very special dog. While his owners have him to seriously hunt with, he has also continued with NAVHDA testing as well. Zeb scored 106 out of a possible 112 points in his NAVHDA Natural Ability test for a Prize I at just 7 months old. He went on to test Utility at just 18 months old and obtained a Prize II. (Griff's mature slower than many other breeds and to successfully test Utility at such a young age is pretty spectacular). Zeb tested Utility again at 2.5 years old and scored a 189 out of possible 204 points, Prize II. In 2019 Zeb obtained a Prize I in Utility, qualifying for the 2020 Invitational.
Zeb's sire is a NAVHDA Versatile Champion (VC) and his maternal grandfather is also a VC. I have worked with dogs out of the paternal side of his pedigree and been very impressed with them. Pairing Zeb with Stormy produced puppies with 3 VC's in the first 3 generations of their pedigrees. Pairing Zeb with Rainy produced pups with 3 VCs in the first 4 generations. You gotta look long and hard and get on a list to get bloodlines like that. (To help put that in perspective, consider that as of 2013, only 35 griffs in the world had attained the title of Versatile Champion). Zeb is the father of our stud, Sage.
The reports on the puppies from our litters from Willow, Rainy, Stormy and Maggie have been great and we have enjoyed seeing pictures and hearing of their hunting exploits in their new homes. We look forward to the reports on the pups from each litter every fall.
Our prior litters are featured on the Progeny Page. It's much easier for you to see for yourself how our pups are doing, if you see their pictures and read their owners' own words describing them. Our goal is to make the breed better with every litter we produce.
The puppies from our litters that have been tested in NAVHDA Natural Ability have averaged over 104 points out of a possible 112 points, with almost half of those pups achieving the maximum score of 112 points for Prize 1. Feel free to compare that record with any other breeders, by searching the NAVHDA website. We don't produce a lot of puppies and we are careful in selecting the homes they are placed in, but we believe that our pups' test scores speak to the quality of our bloodlines.
Our 2011 litter from Maggie and VC CH Griffe D'Automne Mr. Brown ("Jacque") progressed exceptionally well. All showed natural retriever and pointing instincts and we are getting great reports on their progress from their new owners. Four of the puppies from this litter have tested and Prized in their NAVHDA Natural Ability test at 7-10 months of age.The testing scores of this litter resulted in a 2012 NAVHDA NA Breeders Award. (Over the past 10 years, on average, less than 10 WPG breeders in North America achieve this honor per year.) The puppies' scores averaged over 100 points out of a possible 112 points, far above the minimum needed for a Breeders Award. These puppies tested at young ages (7-10 months old when the age limit is 16 months) due to being a fall litter. Two puppies were trained and handled in the tests by their teenage owners. Both of these young men were training their first bird dog and had no prior experience in NAVHDA testing . Thanks to all the owners for the obvious efforts that they put into their pups, and for following through with the testing! Two puppies obtained maximum scores in their respective tests. (Please see "Stormy" Page under "Our Griffs," and "Progeny" Page, to track the progress of this outstanding litter. )
The NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeders Award is based upon impartial judges from the international organization, evaluating puppies in field situations on various hunting attributes. The puppies are also evaluated for physical defects and temperament. Four of the six puppies from the qualifying litter were tested in NAVHDA tests in 2012. No temperament issues or physical defects were noted by the judges. And the puppies obviously displayed what the judges wanted to see in the field and water to have all prized and made the Breeders Award possible.
We completely guarantee the health of our puppies. Please email for a copy of our puppy contract which details the guarantee.
Each puppy has shots, worming and vet inspection before placement in its new home. Tails are docked and dewclaws removed.
We strongly believe that early socialization, stimulation, and positive exposures for puppies (of any breed) is critical for happy, healthy, well adjusted hunters and companions.
We ensure our puppies have had plenty of exposure to children, and adults, other pets, game bird wings and feathers, and experienced live flightless pigeons (Pigeons are much less likely to hurt a puppy than game birds.) all before 8 weeks of age. Each puppy gets daily “one on one” time with us from the time it's eyes are open. They get rides in the truck and crate conditioning. We do some very light gunfire conditioning
with distant .22 rimfire shooting during feeding time by 8 weeks.
As a buyer, you are always encouraged to come pick out your own puppy from the litter. We spend a lot of time with the puppies and see their personalities developing. We will listen to your desires and do our best to steer you towards the puppy with the personality that best fits what you are looking for. If you are unable to come pick out a puppy, we will try to match you with the best personality fit we can. If for any reason, you decide in the future that you cannot keep your dog, we ask that you give us the opportunity to buy it back.
Our puppy litters are registered with NAVHDA.
Breeding is a serious decision, based on numerous factors: Only the best hunters with sound temperament, intense desire to hunt, please, cooperate, and who have had satisfactory x ray evaluations for hip dysplasia are bred.
Coat, conformation and appearance are also important. We strive for harsh field coats in our dogs.
We strongly encourage puppy buyers who are new to versatile dogs to join their local NAVHDA chapter and participate in training days in the early developmental stages of their puppy’s life. This ensures that the puppy gets the early proper exposure, and the owner learns how to best handle the dog. An investment of time in the pup's first year will guarantee a lifetime of hunting pleasure for both of you. We will always be happy to give training advice for the life of your puppy.
We do not ship unattended puppies. If you want one, you can come here and either fly or drive home with it. If
you live in close proximity, we may be able to arrange delivery. (Although we strongly encourage you to come see the puppies, our adult dogs, and watch some dog work.)
We can connect you with owners of females that Sage will be breeding. If you do your homework, you will find that most well bred hunting griff puppies require reservations well in advance.
We only place puppies in hunting homes. Please expect some screening questions during your inquiry about our pups.

Our "bird in the box" game... Puppies get to smell and see a pigeon in a milk crate for minute or less each day during yard play time. Really lights that bird prey drive early...
Pups have a wading pool to explore and play in during yard time. (weather permitting) This builds confidence with water so swimming is a very easy natural step.
