Maggie
Maggie with a green-wing teal
Maggie is a snappy, athletic, hard driving, medium range hunter with stylish, intense points and fast, exuberant retrieves. (Or as one hunting companion put it, "She's got a motor and a set of wheels!"). Everyone who hunts behind her comments on her beautiful movement, effortlessly quartering in CRP and always ready to eagerly snake through the thick cover. Maggie is quick to notice a direction change by the hunter and adjust her position without command to remain in front of the hunter. Maggie loves the water and will swim for the fun of it, with or without a retrieve to be made. She is equally at home hunting waterfowl or upland. Her favorite is pheasants and she has really figured out how to manage those skittish late season birds. Maggie is still going strong when other dogs are lagging behind the gunners with their tongues hanging out at the end of the day. She weighs 48 lbs with a beautiful harsh outer coat, dense undercoat and beautiful furnishings. She has a sweet easy going couch potato disposition in the house and truck, and a strong desire to please.
Maggie scored a maximum 112 NAVHDA NA (Eval) at 17 months. Maggie is out of Wayfarer's lines. Her sire was Wayfarer's Dbl C I'm Ingo Too, grandson of Wayfarer's Ingo, the first and only Griff to win a NSTRA Championship.
Maggie is retired from our breeding program after having produced 3 wonderful litters and a NAVHDA NA Breeders Award for us. She now spends her days with a retired friend in Michigan who fanatically hunts waterfowl and upland in multiple states. They also frequently donate their time and energy at a nearby preserve that donates pheasant hunts for disabled veterans, where Maggie gets to be the star for the day. Since Maggie is the matriarch of our breeding program and our future pups all come from her fantastic genetics, we still keep her page on the website.
